In October 2024, our In Focus survey was about our participants’ chocolate consumption. The study looked at the preferred type of chocolate, how chocolate from different countries is rated and which brand is the favorite.
The majority of respondents like chocolate
Chocolate is very popular with our participants, with only one person not liking chocolate at all. The majority (48%) answered “strongly agree” to the question of whether they like chocolate.
When asked which type of chocolate they like best, milk chocolate received the highest approval rating with a mean value of 5.04, closely followed by dark chocolate with a mean value of 4.75. White chocolate was in third place with a mean score of 3.99.
(Scale from 1 – “strongly disagree” to 7 – “strongly agree”)
Switzerland, Austria and Belgium lead the country comparison
Brand comparison: Milka is clearly ahead
Milka came out on top in the brand comparison. The brand of the US food group Mondelez is the favorite of 29% of our participants. It was followed by the Swiss brand Lindt with 20%. Around 14% stated that they had no favorite brand. At the bottom of the ranking is Toblerone – only 1% of respondents named this as their favorite brand.
