Donation habits of Austrians

In December 2022, 333 Austrians were surveyed on behalf of the monthly In Focus Report for m.core/WU Vienna. The topic of this survey was the donation habits of Austrians. How often do the respondents donate? What is the average donation amount and what are the expectations of Austrians with regard to donations? All of these questions are answered in the new Im Fokus Report by m.core/WU Vienna.

The 333 participants* (50.2% female, 49.8% male, 0% diverse) carefully answered the survey. The average age of the respondents was 42.4 years (standard deviation 13.9).

When asked when the last time they donated was, 10% said they had never donated money, 19% had not donated at all in 2022, and 71% said they had donated in 2022. The average donation amount is 139€, with a slightly significant difference between genders: the average for male participants is 160€ – for women it is 118€. There was no difference between the genders when asked about the frequency of donations: On average, respondents donate 9 times a year. In addition, 70% of the participants agreed at least to some extents that donating is very important. On the question of Austrians’ expectations about donating, the survey found that the majority of respondents do not think that donating is the norm and that it is expected of people. More details can be found in the full report.
