Our August 2025 “In Focus” survey in cooperation with m.core/WU Vienna was dedicated to self-care and personal growth. The study explored which activities people already practice or have tried, how easy or challenging they find them, how much joy they experience, and how long it takes to notice the first positive effects.
Which activities are most common?
The 319 participants (47% female, 52.7% male, 0.3% diverse; Ø age 42.8 years) shared insights into their routines and experiences. The most common activities were:
- Doing Sports
- Eating healthy
- Meditation
- Psychotherapy
- Learning a new language

One key finding
People of all age groups seem to enjoy these activities equally.
- There is no link between age and perceived effort.
- The older people get, the more they tend to enjoy exercising.
- Younger participants reported slightly more enjoyment from therapy – a reminder that it’s worth starting early.
- No differences between men and women: everyone benefits equally.
Some positive effects show up after the very first try, while others take weeks or months. Most participants, however, reported noticeable changes within a year – whether exercising, eating healthy, meditating, attending therapy, or learning a new language.

Conclusion
Whether it’s sports, meditation, psychotherapy, or language learning – it’s never too late to try something new. Every age group benefits from these activities, and everyone can find their own path. What matters most: start – and keep going.
